What's Inside a Fact Sheet

A reference guide, not live data; use it alongside the official source above.

Term / FieldWhat It Means
Expense Ratio (TER)The annual fee, as a percentage of assets, charged for managing the fund; a lower ratio means more of the return reaches the investor, all else being equal.
Portfolio HoldingsThe actual stocks or bonds the fund owns that month, usually the top 10, with each one's weight in the portfolio.
Sector / Rating AllocationFor equity funds, the breakdown by industry sector; for debt funds, the breakdown by credit rating (AAA, AA, etc.), which indicates credit risk.
Returns (1Y / 3Y / 5Y / Since Inception)Trailing point-to-point returns as of the fact sheet date, alongside the benchmark's return for the same periods, for direct comparison.
Fund Manager & TenureWho manages the fund and since when; a manager change is worth noting since it can shift the fund's style even within the same category.
AUM (Assets Under Management)The total money the fund holds; very small or very large AUM can each carry trade-offs worth understanding for that specific category.

Why a Fact Sheet Matters More Than a Fund's Name

A fund's name and category tell you its mandate ("Flexi Cap", "Corporate Bond Fund") but not what it actually owns today. Two funds in the same category, run by two different AMCs, can have meaningfully different portfolios, concentration levels, and risk exposure. The fact sheet is where that difference becomes visible in specific, checkable detail rather than a marketing description.

Why We Link to Each AMC Instead of Hosting Fact Sheets Ourselves

Every one of the 40+ SEBI-registered AMCs in India publishes its own scheme fact sheets monthly on its own website, in its own format, on its own schedule. There is no single, verifiably current feed that aggregates all of them, so rather than risk showing you a stale figure, we link to AMFI's official member directory below, which points you straight to the source fund house for the latest publication.

How to Read a Fact Sheet

Start with expense ratio and fund manager tenure, since both directly affect what you actually keep and how much continuity the strategy has had. Then check portfolio holdings and sector or credit-rating allocation to see what the fund actually owns right now, not just its stated mandate. Finally, look at trailing returns across multiple periods (1Y, 3Y, 5Y, since inception) against the stated benchmark for the same periods, not in isolation, since a return only means something relative to what it's being measured against.

A fact sheet is a monthly document every AMC publishes for each of its schemes: portfolio holdings, sector allocation, fund manager details, expense ratio, and returns across multiple time periods, all in a standardised, SEBI-regulated format.

Fact sheets are published independently by each of the 40+ AMCs, not aggregated anywhere as a single feed we could verify as current. Rather than show figures that might lag an AMC's latest monthly publication, we link to AMFI's official directory so you can go straight to the source fund house.

There isn't one universal answer, but expense ratio (TER) is worth checking on every fact sheet since it directly reduces your return every year, regardless of market performance, and it's one of the few numbers within an AMC's control rather than the market's.

Once a fund is in your portfolio, a quarterly or half-yearly check is reasonable, mainly to watch for a fund manager change, a meaningful shift in portfolio concentration, or a rising expense ratio, rather than reacting to every month's fresh publication.
